Blog Post #1: Goals/Habits/Allies

Short Term Goals
For this upcoming year, my short term goals are mainly focused on my education and self discovery. One of the things I would like to maintain this year are my grades. I plan on finishing strong this year. I am planning to apply to various colleges and improve my SAT score.

Long Term Goals
My goals for the future are quite idealistic. I realize that it is quite a bit to take in.  My mind is set for becoming a doctor in the future. I would like to specialize in Cardiology.  Idealistically I would like to see myself in college studying pre-med after I graduate this year.  After that, I would like to spend the next few years in medical school where I would work on being a specialist in whatever area I would like.  I expect that my mind will change about the specialization I would like to have in the future, but at the moment my interests lie in Cardiology.

Habits
Some good habits directly relate to how I stay organized.  I like to keep post-its all around the house in case I come with something that I would like to save and come back for later.
Something that is very important to me is the ability to be punctual.  I believe it is important for first impressions and a good habit in general.

My bad habits include stressing myself too much.  I tend to overachieve and this causes me to put loads of work on myself.  I can be quite a perfectionist and I believe that to be both a good and a bad habit.  It's bad because sometimes I just don't know when to stop working on something particular.

Allies

  • One of my allies is my mother.  I know I can trust her to help me with anything.
  • Another one of my allies is my closest friend, my best friend who is currently a medical engineer.  He helps me with anything related to school.
  • My music teacher is also another person I know I can rely on.
  • My spanish teacher whom I've had for two years is also a person I can trust to help me.

  1. I guess we have some things in common! We both want to be doctors (can't wait for those endless hours of nonstop studying amirite?), post-its are definitely the most efficient way to jot down notes, we can't stand being late, and stress is the #1 villain. By the way, you sound like you got the whole "future" thing down and will have no trouble accomplishing each and every one of your goals. You got this!
