Work Readiness Skills at Kaiser Permanent
Positive:
1. Tolerance and Respect-
At Kaiser, I have followed around many nurses and doctors. I needed to be listening and attentive at what they're doing, so that I would not be disturbing them from their work. Especially when the doctor had to do head and neck surgery on a person. Also, I have had to be tolerant with patients because they can easily get mad.
2. Professional-
At Kaiser, we need to be dress professionally. Everyday, I dress in khaki pants. I have to have my hair tied up in a ponytail, and I wear shoes that are closed. In addition, I need to wear my badge above my waist. Also, I have to speak professionally because there are many people.

Negative:
1. Communicating Effectively-
The first day, I was shy because I got overwhelmed that there were so many people. Sometimes I would mumble. Also, when I didn't know something I would try to figure it out myself. This made me do more work because I need to go back and erase my mistakes when I was transcribing papers. Thankfully, I wrote in pencil. However, I feel like I am improving because now I can easily talk to them unlike the first day. Also, I ask questions before I start anything.

Communicating seems to be a common improvement among a lot of people, including myself. Just remember that being talkative and friendly won't hurt you and you'll build good relationships with the people you're working with and those relationships could help you in the future.

ReplyDeleteThe easiest way to get fear of communicating is to remember that it is always better to ask questions. More often than not, your superiors will appreciate you asking rather than you doing something wrong.
