Blog Post #3

After high school, I want to attend college. I have always wanted to become a nurse and work with babies or smaller children.

Labor and Delivery Nurse:
Education: Must receive a bachelor's degree in nursing (4 years) or an associate's degree in nursing (2-3 years). Also, take electives such as labor and delivery and get clinical experience.
Salary: $65,470, highest paying jobs on the coast
Personality Traits: Sociable with mothers and families, well educated to answer any questions about childbirth, friendly to help comfort new mothers, and able to monitor the health and well being of the child and mother.

Neonatal Nurse:
Education: Receive bachelor's in nursing (4 years) or an associate's in nursing (2 years) taking a neonatal elective. For neonatal advanced practice, must complete a master's degree or doctor of nursing practice in neonatal nursing (2-3 years). Then licensing and certification depending on the state.
Salary: $77,000, highest wages in the west
Personality Traits: Critical thinking skills to keep up with the changing status of the patient, patience, compassion, ability to teach families the medical situation of the newborn, and remain emotionally objective when faced with situations like death or disease.

Pediatric Nurse:
Education: Receive a bachelor's of science in nursing (4 years) or associate's in nursing (2 years) or a diploma and take classes in early childhood development.
Salary: $62,000, highest in south-east
Personality Traits: Needs to stay cam in all situations, be able to control situations where children are upset, communication between the child/their family/the doctor, organization skills, and compassion.

  2. You seem really passionate about becoming a nurse. All three careers sounds very interesting. Communication skills seem to be a common theme in all three jobs. I like how you organized your blog post. It was very easy to follow.
